Athletic Mission Statement
The purpose of the Seattle Mountaineers Independent Club basketball program is to provide an inclusive Christian based experience for our athletes to teach them the benefits of competition and understand its redemptive value. The Mountaineers hold memberships in the (AIA) Athletes in Action program, the (AAU) Amatuer Athletic Union and the (ABA) American Basketball Association.
The Mountaineer Christian athlete is taught to win and make no apology for it. While this is the Athletes intent, our Christian athletes must have a higher purpose in competing: glorifying Christ by having discipline, character, sportsmanship and the ability to work well with others. The objectives of the Seattle Mountaineers are as follows:
- To have Christ centered coaches that lead by example and inspire athletes to follow their example as they themselves follow Christ
- Be a good representative of Christ wherever we compete
- To use our athletic program to spread the Gospel
- To help each athlete to develop a deeper level of self-control, positive attitude, loyalty, leadership, mental toughness, teamwork, work ethic and a genuine love for other people
- To develop our players to become men of faith in their communities and within their families
- To develop our elite players for professional basketball careers overseas
The Seattle Mountaineers are a non profit 501 (c) 3 organization. All donations are 100% tax deductable.
